Shipbuilding to get Rs 3 lakh crore investment

The vision documents Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kal Vision 2047 aim to make India a world-class shipbuilding hub. Companies that were previously focused on ship repair now see every opportunity to shift their focus to shipbuilding.
The government's focus and planning on defense component manufacturing has started bearing fruit. Domestic production of defense equipment in the fiscal year 2025 crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore. This is a record. 24,000 crore was earned as export earnings. This is also a record.
We are expecting defence exports to reach Rs 29,000 crore by April 2026. By FY 2030, export earnings from this sector will reach Rs 50,000 crore. A concerted effort has already been initiated for this.
The face of shipyards will change. Productivity will be increased by utilizing advanced technology. Productivity will be made competitive at the international level. The sector will be modernized by providing scientific training in ship designing. The possibilities of digitalization will be examined.
